Why use AI images on E-Commerce
Hiring a photographer for every product adds up quickly, especially with many SKUs. AI lets you try different backgrounds, styling and settings from one source photo and keep the look consistent across your catalogue. Always start from a photo of the actual product so the result represents what customers receive.
E-Commerce photo guide
Marketplaces have different rules. Amazon requires a pure white background for the main image. Shopify stores benefit from lifestyle shots that show the product in use. On every platform, export at high resolution (at least 1000px, ideally 2000px) so zoom works, and keep lighting and angles consistent across your catalogue. Product photos must show the real product accurately: colour, size, materials and what is included.
Do
- Keep pure white backgrounds (255,255,255) for Amazon main images
- Show the product filling 85% or more of the image frame
- Generate multiple lifestyle contexts for the same product
- Maintain consistent lighting and shadow direction across your catalog
- Include scale references where appropriate for size clarity
Don’t
- Add text, logos, or watermarks to your main product image on Amazon
- Generate unrealistic product representations that mislead buyers
- Use inconsistent backgrounds across a product listing
- Compress images below marketplace minimum resolution requirements
- Include props or backgrounds that distract from the product itself
