What is the Chased by Hyenas AI Trend: Outrun the Pack on the Savanna?
The chased by hyenas trend is the funniest wildlife clip on TikTok right now, and nobody in it was ever near Africa. One photo goes in, and out comes a video of that person running for their life across a dusty savanna, a whole pack of spotted animals right at their heels, glancing back with a face somewhere between panic and laughter. Upload one full-body photo and this template makes the chase with your face and your outfit.
The trend started as a CapCut AI template called Dogs Chase Trend. The earliest clip we found is from 2 November 2026, "Grandpa got chased by hyenas". On 5 November @po94275 posted "Fui perseguido por hienas!" ("I was chased by hyenas!"), a woman in orange overalls and then a man in a black suit and hat sprinting from the pack: 400,000 views and 7,600 shares in two days. On 6 November @lucky32859's "How to make the chased by hyenas filter" passed 171,000 views, and the template spread through English, Portuguese, Spanish and Arabic posts within the week. Every comment section points out the same thing: the animals are not hyenas but African wild dogs, also called painted dogs. The hyena name stuck anyway.
The template runs in two steps: an image model puts you on the savanna, mid-sprint, with the pack behind you, then a video model plays 8 seconds of the chase with a tense original beat. The trend videos on this page are credited to their creators; the poster image is AI-generated.
What happens in the video
0-2 s: you sprint toward the camera with a pack of wild dogs right behind you. 2-5 s: the camera runs alongside as you glance back, dust flying. 5-8 s: you leap a bush and keep running, the pack still on your heels.
Are they hyenas or wild dogs?
In the viral clips they are African wild dogs, the spotted tan, black and white animals also called painted dogs. Everyone calls the trend "chased by hyenas" anyway, so the template keeps the look of the original: a pack of wild dogs on a golden savanna.
Which photo to use
One adult, full body or at least down to the knees, face clear and in good light. Use your own photo or one of a friend who said yes, never a celebrity, a stranger or a child.
