What is the Snow Leopard Meme AI: Turn Your Pet Into the Paws-At-You Snow Leopard?
The snow leopard meme is the internet's favourite animal at the end of October 2026: a fluffy snow leopard with its paws up against the glass and huge, round, glossy eyes, "pawing at you". Upload a photo of your cat or dog, or of yourself, and this template turns it into your own snow leopard version, pawing at the camera.
The meme starts with a real 2024 photo of a snow leopard behind the glass at a zoo in Japan. In October 2026 someone gave it the huge glossy eyes of Mei Mei, the Tole Tole cat that went viral in 2023, and fans started calling it snow leopard Mei Mei or Snowmei. The first meme post went up on X on 23 October, the line "*paws at you*" stuck to it, and on TikTok #snowleopardmeimei passed 21 million views in a week. The most watched edits passed 2.2 million, 1.3 million and 1.1 million views between 29 October and 1 November, and Google searches for "paws at you" and "snow leopard meme" jumped at the same time.
The template runs in two steps: an image model turns your pet into a fluffy snow leopard with its own face and markings and the meme's huge glossy eyes (people get a snow leopard onesie and paw mittens), then a video model plays an 8-second clip of it pawing at the glass to soft wind chimes. The trend videos on this page are credited to their creators; the poster image is AI-generated.
What happens in the video
0-2 s: your snow leopard sits behind the glass, paws pressed flat, staring at you with huge glossy eyes. 2-5 s: it slowly paws at the glass, left, then right. 5-7 s: a head tilt and one slow blink. 7-8 s: paws back on the glass and a pleading stare. Soft wind chimes and a quiet breeze, no music.
What does "paws at you" mean?
"*paws at you*" is an old roleplay line, written between asterisks like an action, that means the animal is gently tapping at you for attention. With the snow leopard meme people follow it with a punchline: a game invite ("hop online"), "true friendship" or "am i annoying". The huge glossy eyes come from Mei Mei, a cat meme from 2023.
