What is the AI Diwali Transition: Swipe Into Your Festive Look Under Fireworks?
The Diwali transition is the reel everyone posts in the week of the festival: you start in your everyday clothes, swirl a dupatta across the camera, and the next second you are in your Diwali outfit, twirling in the lights. Upload one photo and this template makes the whole transition, outfit, fireworks and all, without changing clothes.
Outfit transitions are a Diwali habit, and in 2026 the format took over again. On 2 November @dancingwithanj posted a group version, "save this for your next Diwali transition", that passed 1.7 million views. @rashnakutwaroo then posted one dupatta swipe after another, from plaid pyjamas to a red embroidered suit and a pink lehenga, at 615,000, 537,000 and 428,000 views between 4 and 5 November, and prompt blogs published an AI version of the dupatta twirl under golden fireworks the same week. On 6 November 2026 the #diwalitransition tag held more than 104 million TikTok views. Diwali falls on Sunday, 8 November 2026.
The template runs in two steps: an image model sets up the first frame, you holding the dupatta, then a video model plays 8 seconds of the swipe and the reveal on a rooftop full of diyas and fireworks. The trend videos on this page are credited to their creators; the poster image is AI-generated.
What happens in the video
0-2 s: you smile at the camera in your everyday clothes and lift a red dupatta. 2-3 s: you swirl it across the lens. 3-8 s: you come out in a festive Diwali outfit on a rooftop of diyas and fairy lights, twirling as golden fireworks burst behind you.
Can I choose the outfit?
The template picks an elegant festive look, an ivory and gold anarkali or a silk lehenga, that suits your photo. Each run comes out a little different, so generate again for another look.
Which photo to use
One adult, face clear and toward the camera, good light, upper body in view. Use your own photo or one of a friend who said yes, never a celebrity, a stranger or a child.
